A precocious talent, Anne Gastinel entered the CNSMD in Lyon at the age of 11. Yo-Yo Ma, János Starker and Paul Tortelier, with whom she later perfected her skills and who had a profound influence on her artistic and personal development, already recognised in her the maturity of an exceptional musician. She won numerous prizes at major international competitions (Scheveningen, Prague, Rostropovich) and soon performed across Europe.
In 1997, she was selected by Marta Casals Istomin to play Pablo Casals' legendary Matteo Goffriller cello for a year.
In 2006, Anne Gastinel received the Victoire de la Musique award as "Soloist of the Year" (after previously winning in the "Young Talent" and "Best Recording" categories).
Her career takes her to the most prestigious concert halls worldwide (Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Musikverein, Suntory Hall, Théâtre du Châtelet, Victoria Hall, Philharmonie de Paris, Wigmore Hall, Auditorium de Lyon, Concertgebouw Amsterdam etc.), where she appears in recital, chamber music and as a soloist with leading French and international orchestras. She has performed under great masters such as Yehudi Menuhin, Mstislav Rostropovich and Kurt Sanderling. She also enjoys collaborating with conductors and composers such as Emmanuel Krivine, Daniele Gatti, Pinchas Steinberg, Krzysztof Penderecki, Michel Plasson, Alexandre Bloch and Paavo Järvi.
A passionate chamber musician, Anne Gastinel regularly performs with Claire Désert, with whom she has recorded numerous acclaimed albums (Poulenc, Franck, Schubert, Schumann, Chopin…). Other chamber music partners include Quatuor Hermès, Nicholas Angelich, Andreas Ottensamer, David Grimal, Philippe Cassard, Xavier Philipps and Les Violoncelles Français.
